Movers are not all the same - they differ enormously.

Some movers are consistenly careless, somewhat sober, ill-equipped and drive old unreliable vehichles. Even worse, some disreputable movers may not even show up at all as they often over book (especially at month end) and then pick the easier or more lucrative job on moving day. These movers may charge less than $70 per hour for two men and a truck, but there's a good chance they won't show up on moving day.

Other more reliable movers may charge over $100 and may have more or less an opposite set of characteristics. When it comes time to decide between the two, our advice is to hire the more expensive mover. Usually the money that you think you'll save with the cheaper mover will be erroded by a slower move, damages to your belongings or even missing belongings.
